We have all failed at something and for many of us more than once.  It’s not the dazzling voice that makes a singer,  Or clever stories that make a writer. And it’s not piles of money that make a tycoon. It’s having a dream and

wanting to live it so greatly that one would rather move with it and “fail” than succeed in another realm. (Mike Dooley).

What does failing mean? We know in school it’s not doing the assignments but what about in life?  Do we fail because we don’t try? Do we fail because we don’t have the right tools or enough money or the right connections?

What does fail mean? To be unsuccessful in achieving one’s goal. to be found wanting or deficient. Now the big question  what do you do when you fail?  We all know the platitudes: fall down 7  times get up 8, of you aren’t failing you are not risking enough or whatever saying you choose. Edison said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

How do you handle failure? Here’s a personal story I have my father’s violin and he was happy for me to have it, He hadn’t played it years. I was not going to learn to play it, it is a symbol to me of how some handle failure. My father played for several years but wasn’t the best so he just quit. I learned when I was dancing I would never be a ballerina or be on Broadway not even close but I loved it and had fun.  Yes I performed on stage and did many recitals I stopped several years ago but I still dance  when I can.  Did I fail? No, I had a dream and I enjoyed it.

I think about my company and it has had many ups and downs and yet I am still here learning and enjoying what I do.  Maybe not everyday but overall yes!

When I feel like I am failing I have learned some valuable tips to help me move forward and get back on track.  It doesn’t happen overnight and it does take introspection. The most important is to get centered and use all the tools to help. Get rid of negative self talk, focus on goals while accepting where you are now, and most important do what’s best for you. It’s your life, live it. Name the achievement and success you want. Now go get it!

“At the center of your being you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.  “
